The Official Charity of the TC Open
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is proud and privileged to be the charity of choice for the Times Colonist Open, the longest-running Canadian Tour event.
Your attendance at the TC Open makes a tremendous difference to the lives of thousands of patients every year. Funds raised through the TC Open support cardiac care on Vancouver Island through the Victoria Hospitals Foundation. The Foundation works closely with the community to raise funds for the only cardiology program on Vancouver Island: the Heart Health program at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in British Columbia.
The Heart Health program at Royal Jubilee Hospital is rated by the American Cardiology Association as one of the top cardiac programs in North America. It is a Cardiac Centre of Excellence.
Cardiac patients from throughout Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and elsewhere in the province are referred to Royal Jubilee Hospital for specialized diagnosis and treatment, including open heart surgery.
In all of British Columbia, the Royal Jubilee is one of only six hospitals that performs cardiac catheterizations (angiograms).
It is one of only four hospitals in B.C. that performs percutaneous coronary interventions (such as balloon angioplasty and stent insertion).
Royal Jubilee is one of only two hospitals in our province that provides laser lead extraction procedures (relating to pacemakers).
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation works closely with Royal Jubilee’s Heart Health team to focus on the most urgent and compelling medical equipment needs to enhance cardiac care. The support provided by the TC Open brings us closer to achieving our goals, and we are tremendously grateful for this partnership.
With your help, more money than ever will be raised this year to improve cardiac care on Vancouver Island. We truly value your support.
About the Victoria Hospitals Foundation
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation works in partnership with the Vancouver Island Health Authority to enable donations to Vancouver Island’s two largest and most comprehensive hospitals: the Royal Jubilee and the Victoria General. Every year the Foundation funds 40 per cent of capital medical equipment purchases for these hospitals, and last year this amounted to more than $6 million for urgently needed medical equipment and special projects that help these two hospitals provide care to all 752,000 residents of Vancouver Island.
Since 1989, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation has raised more than $70 million to benefit Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals. For more information, please call the Foundation at 250-414-6688 or go to www.victoriahf.ca. |
